Artist Statement
I love to create things, made my own lamps, decorative mirrors and handmade papers, sold a few of them, and authored books about botanical design and handmade paper. I also work with large manufacturers, providing custom design services and new ideas for using their products.
After many years of experimenting with layers of acrylic mediums I rediscovered an old passion that led me to create my newest works of art.
My originals are now being offered for sale at the MOONSTAR GALLERY in Foscoe, North Carolina. My Creative Process :
I like to spontaneously manipulate the paints and other mediums on the canvas, allowing just enough time for each layer to dry before continuing to the next step. The simple process of moving and blending the colors and adding and removing multiple layers of textures reveals new elements of surprise while developing each piece.
My artwork incorporates several processes of experimentation in creativity, each telling its own unique story. The subtle hint of recognizable objects encourages the viewer to move in closer or take a step back to discover their own personal interpretation and connection.
